The Beach

Inspiration

It was Christmas time one year and I was feeling sorry for myself. Too much work, noise, stress etc.! I remember driving to Aldeburgh beach not far from where we live and stopping near to the spot where the infamous ‘Scallop’ by Maggie Hambling now sits.

No-one around, I let vent to my feelings, hoping that God heard me. There was nothing but the sea and sky and swooping seagulls, a desolate and wild place at that time of year, but somehow very cleansing..I felt so much better when I went home.

Lyrics

The sea and the sky
And the stones beneath my feet
Nothing comes between us
The sea and the sky
And the stones beneath my feet
Let nothing comes between us

I wait ‘til all my tears are spent
I wait in the silence
I wait til’ all my tears are spent
I wait in the silence

Heal me, hold me in your rocking arms
Kiss me with the kiss of heavens heart
Hold me, until the storm of tears has passed
Feed me on simplicity and silence

The sea and the sky
And the stones beneath my feet
Nothing comes between us
The sea and the sky
And the stones beneath my feet
Let nothing come between us
