Motherless Child
Inspiration
David Fitzgerald (Iona) and myself went to the lady Chapel in Ely Cathedral to do some experimental singing and playing. Jesse recorded us and we had an amazing time. The reverb in that place is like riding a wave, the timing is all important, as there is a big ‘delay’ on the sound. The Chapter room at Wells is similar and I have sung there from time to time in an unofficial capacity!
Motherless Child came at the end of the session when we were packing up, it was an afterthought really, David said it sounded like a lament, which I guess it is. Although David did not play in that track, one of the others that he did play on (I wonder as I wander) is in on a Christmas EP that I did last year.
